Senate Unanimously Passes Gordner Resolution to Recognize National Day of Prayer

(HARRISBURG) – – The Senate of Pennsylvania today unanimously passed a resolution sponsored by Sen. John R. Gordner (R-27) that recognizes May 7 as the “National Day of Prayer” in Pennsylvania, encouraging the celebration of religious freedom.

Sen. Gordner said the first Thursday of May has been designated annually across the country to recognize the power of prayer. “Prayer is regarded by millions as the most important utterance for the benefit of our society,” said Sen. Gordner.

“The National Day of Prayer is a day to ask for healing and unity,” said Sen. Gordner, who noted the annual designation is being recognized by Congress and by state legislatures across the country to celebrate religious freedom.

The theme of this year’s 64th annual National Day of Prayer is “Lord, Hear Our Cry”.
