Senate President Pro Tempore Joe Scarnati (R-25) offers the following statement regarding Governor Corbett’s liquor privatization proposal.
“Today’s proposal by the Governor begins in earnest a needed conversation of where Pennsylvanians may purchase alcohol in our state. I plan to communicate regularly on this issue with fellow senators, members of the House and the Governor to help determine how consumers are given additional choice and convenience.”
“As I discussed yesterday, I support both modernization and privatization alternatives for the delivery of beer, wine and spirits in the Commonwealth.”
Senator Scarnati is the prime sponsor of a measure that permits the direct shipment of wine to PA consumers. Further, Senator Scarnati co-sponsored Senator McIlhinney’s plan that he circulated yesterday.
