Veterans Affairs Committee to Consider Five Bills at Nov. 18 Meeting

The Senate Veterans Affairs & Emergency Preparedness Committee will consider five bills at its next meeting set for 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 18th, in Room 461 of the State Capitol, according to Committee Chairman Senator Randy Vulakovich.

House Bill 49, introduced by Representative Chris Sainato, would extend the $100,000 death benefit that is currently available to other emergency responders to members of the Pennsylvania Civil Air Patrol.

House Bill 602, introduced by Representative Stephen Barrar, would increase the state active duty pay for National Guard personnel from $75 to $100 per day.

Senate Bill 1013, introduced by Senator Vincent Hughes, would allow private employers to adopt and use a veterans’ preference employment policy.

Senate Bill 1047, introduced by Senator Vulakovich, would allow state Veterans Homes to retain vending machine proceeds.

Senate Bill 1067, introduced by Senator Yudichak, extends the eligibility period for the Amputee and Paralyzed Veteran’s Pension Program.
